Stephen King's Novel, "Under The Dome"

Well, if you're into horror and science fiction, then Stephen King's novel, "Under The Dome" will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat. He started writing this novel in 1980, and after nearly 30 years, has finished his 1000+ page thriller epic, due to be published in November 2009.

Under the Dome is a brilliantly put-together novel, about Chester's Mill, a small town in Maine, in which an invisible force field seals it off from the rest of the world, "on an entirely normal beautiful fall day," as the novel starts out. Planes spinning out of control, crash suddenly into the field in a flaming wreckage, the hand of a gardener is severed off, as "the dome" comes down on it, people are separated from their families, while running daily errands in a neighborhood town, and cars being exploded on impact. No one can imagine this force, where it came from, or when--or if--it'll go away.

The characters of the novel, are well-put together, with more than 100 characters. It includes a Gulf War veteran turned cook, Dale Barbara, and Julia Shumway, who is the town's newspaper owner and physician's assistant at the hospital, and has three children. They're up against an evil black-hearted politician, Big Jim Rennie--who's quite determined and desperate to hold onto power, and nothing, not even murder can stop him--while his son, is keeping a horrible secret in the dark pantry. In the meantime, time is rapidly running out, under the dome.

I strongly recommend "Under the Dome", for any thrill-seeker looking for a good, hard-core scare, and will make the reader want to read "Under the Dome" again and again. Stephen King has written more than 50 novels, and he sure hopes that people will like this epic horror novel.
